A Few Words About Us

Women of Multicultural Balbriggan (WOMB)
Is a community based voluntary support organisation formed in May 2006 with a vision to work towards improvement of lifestyles for all women living in Balbriggan and surrounding communities. The majority of the members and service users have experienced: Social exclusion resulting from isolation, Prolonged idleness and stagnancy, Integration challenges, Unemployment Poverty and lack of opportunity to fully participate in social and economic activities within the community. Balbriggan is the most ethnicly diverse town in Irelandwhich recorded a 51% population rise in the 2007 census. In particular WOMB aims at improvement of women’s social inclusiveness, participation in the development of their community and their mental well being. WOMB is the only community organisation in Balbriggan that brings together and provides support and information to ethnic minority and indigenous Irish women to integrate. WOMB believes that capacity building through PROFFESSIONAL EDUCATION enhances the opportunities in accessing employment in the Irish labour market thereby addressing the main causes of social exclusion.
